About Windflower
Windflower Landscapes is two sisters bringing the gardener’s touch back into residential landscaping. We have served the north-central Illinois and south-central Wisconsin region together since 2021.
Pamela (owner) has an A.A.S. degree in Horticulture (emphasis in Landscape design) from Kishwaukee College. She has been working in the dirt professionally since 2018, but playing in it her whole life.
Shaina (best sister and gardener extraordinaire) has a B.A. in Art degree from Judson University. She brings her trained eye into every aspect of our work, from creating our logo to helping with day-to-day layout decisions. She is an industrious worker and a sweet person to spend the day with.
We both love to work with our hands to create beautiful things. Because we are a small business, we have the opportunity to get to know our clients in a way that isn’t possible when working for a larger company. The personal connection has added a valuable dimension of satisfaction to our work and helps us create a garden that is customized to their unique home, preferences, and site situation.
Making a garden is more than choosing plants and mulch; it is about the living ecosystem that takes up residence in the yard, bringing the song of birds, the buzzing of bees, the fragrance of flowers, the texture of grass blowing in the wind, the flittering of butterflies, the changing colors throughout the seasons, and the overall impact of seeing it all working together when you pull in the driveway or look out the living room window in winter.
It is satisfying work and it grows us as people to see things grow in the garden.
We are proud members of the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association and the Rotary Botanical Gardens. The ‘green’ community is a welcoming, supportive one and these associations help us as we continue to further our knowledge of plants, materials, practices, and current information about diseases and treatments so that we always bring the freshest perspective into the gardens of those who entrust us with their care.
